In buying the ski bag the skis that we are looking at are from 168 top 176 cm. Which size bag should we buy? 170cm ? of 185?

I'd go with the 185. You don't want to be stuck with a bag that's too small for your skis, and you can always pack more gear in any extra space you have. I've got this bag myself, and it's always nice finding room for some pants or ski socks once my other bags are full. Hope that helps.
