Guess it depends on the person. My son wears layers but we have -20 to -35 weather. Love, love, love the jacket!

It's an extremely waterproof shell made for layering. It's more lightweight and waterproof than it is warm. If you're looking for warm maybe you should seek out an insulated piece. This could be warm in the sense you paired it with proper layering because it would keep you very dry thus equaling warmth. Check out some of Burton's first layers and Mid layers.
