How does this compare to the Mountain Hardwear Ascent MCZ jacket?According to the specs there is only an ounce or difference, but the ascent has some fleece lining and stowable hood.

The main difference is that the Ascent MCZ is a hardshell and the Synchro Ski is a softshell. Both are made with the Conduit laminate and both are functionally water proof and breathable. There are differences in the features but both will do the job.
