Hi I just got a pair of the Aquatooth shoes and they fit great with and with out socks for me. I wanted a shoe doubles as a sandal and hiker. My question is has anyone used these in salt water or around reefs and how are they holding up? Do you need to spray them with anything first? I e-mailed Columbia with the same question. I figure that is you rinse them off in with fresh water after they should be ok.

Rinsing them will solve any problems you might encounter, but there's nothing in these shoes that would be adversely affected by salt water in the first place. Also you should consider washing them in a washing machine. I do not have these shoes, but I have had various experiences with similar shoes that leads me to believe this. Especially if you are using them also as casual shoes, salt water will make them smell terrible and therefore should be washed. I have had mine over a year and use them for fishing in both salt and fresh water. The only damage i have had has been to the removable insoles. They deform and get that funk smell. I also use them to cut my grass but rinse them after every use.
