I bought these simply because of the high waterproof and breathable rating. They are a shell only pretty much though. They don't look warm at all. Any input on how warm there are?

Like you said, they're just a shell. They'll keep you from getting windy or wet, but they don't insulate at all. Wear some long johns underneath for all but the warm spring days.
