I just used my Kelty Moraine Backpack for 2 days hike. After the first half a day my front hip bone area on both sides were completely sore, bruised not chapped. I have seen other backpacks with more thick foam padding for the hip strap. Is it just my packs design or am I doing something wrong?

It's the fit of your pack. There are many different adjustments to be made on a pack when carrying it, and doing any of them wrong will make your pack ride badly on your hips or shoulders. Try this:http://www.netbackpacking.com/selecting-and-fitting-a-multiday-pack.html
