I'm interested in do-it-yourself ski tuning. Waxing and shapening. Do I need a full kit like the DAKINE Super Tune Tuning Kit or can I just get sharpener and some wax? What do you suggest?

I used to dabble with tuning friends skis and snowboard for a little spare change.I didn't do race grade tunig, but I have found a that an adjustable file guide (allows for different angles to be placed on the edge) , a good metal file, some wax, and a scraper can do a pretty decent job. Herein lies the problem, the tools I mentioned above, purchased separately can easily cost as much as the Supertune kit. If your serious about doing it yourself, invest early and you'll save money in the long run. So for a final answer, here's what I would do:1: Get yourself a fixed angle edge file and some rub on wax. 2: Use em. Notice the difference3: Decide if you want to go all in or get just the basics.4: Ski often, wax often, and enjoy.
