It doesn't officially state any water-repellant features. It is, however, sufficiently water resistant for most rains, etc. If you're looking for a more resistant offering, Osprey has an official messenger back (Flap Jack Courier) that has a pull string cinching top underneath the flap: http://www.ospreypacks.com/Packs/FlapSeriesPerformance/FlapJackCourier/
