I recently bought a rain check from northface and I found that a medium is not exactly loose rather than on other jackets I own.. Should I go for a large ? I have seen the sizing charts but does anybody own a medium out there that found it to be a little big tight ?

I would say go with the medium if that is the size you normally wear. The arm length is what you have to watch out for.
