It's not actually designed for skis, but you can strap them in vertically with the snowboard straps (that big black buckle in the photo). That works fine for carrying them. In that case, they'd be attached vertically, flat up your back.Or if you want ski specific and don't need a snowboard carry check out http://www.backcountry.com/store/BCA0066 , it is the same pack without the snowboard carry straps. The Stash pack I linked to has a diagonal ski carry (with the skis bases together). - SMS24
