does anyone know if these boots are insulted,i was told by a salesman they were 400grams i can't find any thing on the boot that says that

They're not insulated, but your feet stay pretty darn warm with wool socks and a liner. I wore 'em hiking in the snow in 10* weather for over 10 hours and my feet remained warm and dry.

You were misinformed. The Fortress is an all leather, breathable Gore-Tex boot, but it's not insulated!
