seriously thinking about mounting a pair of Hammer Heads on these....

By Ranked #401 - Alpine Fat Skis January 27, 2012

seriously thinking about mounting a pair of Hammer Heads on these. has anybody out their tellied on them? I am mostly an in bounds skier and love the steeps, pow filled trees and love turning fast on groomers. I have always been aggressive when initiating the turn and get out in front of my skies at times when it's intense (ie. Head plants :) ) I ski a small area with fantastic snow and my favorite lines often has a headwall entrance with steep, hard snow turns before the soft begins. I want a ski that I can stick these two or three hop turns before
transitioning into the fluff. leaving my Hippie Stynx after a long sweet ride which are stiff but now blown out

I have these mounted with Axls, my other favorite tele ski is Hippie Stinx (on my 2nd pair now) with Bombers. I love the Shamans but find 1) you need to stay centered and drive them pretty hard 2) they are VERY turny and do not straightline well. If I'm not being lazy, I find they absolutely rip and rail in all conditions (but avoid ice and steep moguls). They have definitely become my all mountain ski and I have another pair for Alpine. No problem on hops, no problem with super-tight turns, no problem arcing groomers, obviously super fun in powder and chop. Keep the Hippies for rock skis and harder days.

I mounted my shamans with HHs and love 'em. I live in maine and pretty much use them every day; thats how well they do on hard pack. The massive sidecut makes it feel like your on a slalom ski. I'd say go for it, mine are mounted pins on the "a" marking thats etched in the ski and theres still plenty of tip to keep afloat (160mm shouldn't let you down) Happy Shredding
