is it true that you do not want to set your DIN near the max or min of the DIN range? for instance you would not want to set this binding at 11 or 12

It is highly recommended that you don't set them that high, if you need them to be at that din setting, I recommend getting a higher din binding such as a 14 or 16. The reason being that they might not release when you really need them to, or if they do, it's not going to be a harsh release. you can set these as high as 10 to be safe.
