WHAT IS THE BEST WAY TO WASH DOWN JACKETS OR SHOULD ONE JUST DRY CLEAN THEM?

I TRIED TO WASH A DOWN JACKET ONCE AND THE JACKET WAS NEVER THE SAME. THE DOWN NEVER FLUFFED UP AGAIN, CAUSING COLD SPOTS
