so I know water resistant is not the same as repellent, but how do you think this pant would hold up as a supplementary rain pant. I want a pant that will keep me warm in general, sleepers, especially thrown over some merino wool long underwear and have the option of using them in the rain when needed. They're supposed to wick sweat so that seems better than balmy rain pants. This is all with the intention of backpacking/thruhiking the PCT. Which I will experience alot of rain over 6 months and especially the northwest. Normally I don't even take rain pants for short trips. So the driclime should work for light rain but am I going to get drenched in heavy downpour?

Plan on getting drenched. This product is designed to be used as a moisture transport garment, not a full protection rain pant like the "PreCip." Your best option, considering your upcoming PCT venture, is to layer. I would suggest a long underwear performance base, a convertible pant, & an outer rain jacket/shell. I've been using this system for years with great results. When in doubt, layer!
