I love to ski tight trees and love to explore everywhere on and off piste. I'm 5' 10" 185lbs, around expert level skier. Should i go for 178 or 186? I could get a deal on some 178's. Would the 186's be too long for trees with powder? thanks

if you ski really tight trees go with 178. I don't know how tight your talking about but i ski in NH and there some glades that are real tight and if you have long skis your screwed.

If you are an expert skier you could probably go either way. With the rocker/camber combo on the S3 you'll get a much shorter turning radius than it would seem for the ski length. That said, if you ski a lot of trees and expect quick turning you probably want the 178's. At 185 if you ski a bunch of powder you'll definitely see a bit more float from the 186's. I have a friend about that size with the 178's and he wishes he got the longer ones.
