I'm interested in the Hunker Down and the Kelvinator parkas. Besides one having a detachable hood, what's the difference between the two? Which one would be warmer? (I'm unable to try them on locally to compare.)
Thanks!

3weight. At last check, the Kelvinator has right around 176 grams of 650-fill down (men's medium F'12 NUMBERS) crammed in its baffles and the Hunker Down Parka has about 224 grams of 650-fill down (men's medium F'12 NUMBERS) in its baffles... so, even though they are close, the Hunker Down would be a little warmer due to the increase in the amount of down in the jacket overall. Hope this info helps!

Both have 650 fill down. The Hunker Down Parka is 2-3 inches longer and has a more durable face fabric, especially in the areas along the bottom of the arms and shoulders, and as you mention has a detachable hood. The hood on the Hunker down is very insulated, whereas the hood on the Kelvinator is less insulated and very low profile. The Hunker Down will also be about a half pound heavier, and will be the warmer of the two. Hope this helps you out.
