We have 7 children, ages 16/14/12/10/8/5/2 mths. We have been looking for a nice sized tent we can fit into and still be light enough that we can pack it for hiking. Bigh tents are easy to find for packing in your vehicle. I have been thinking I would have to just buy 2-3 smaller backpacking tents to use for this, but at around 13 lbs., this tent might work. Noone in our family is large in girth, so that all said, do you think this thing is big enough?

A few different times we fit 6 adults of average size (170lbs) in it and it was tight but it worked. That was the max and we didn't have our gear. 2 other times we have had four adults and a pack-and-play with our car bags. I think the best option was to do 2-3 smaller tents. just make sure that you look at the floor sq footage.

you could probobly fit 5 of your youngest ones + you so you can watch them, then set up another tent right next to your first one, and put the 3 remaining kids in there, but putting all 7 of you will probobly be too tight for cumfort

Hello I have some experience with this tent. I would say you may be tight with 7 kids and you may not be sleeping to well with everyone in the same tent. You may want to try 2 pine Island 4 tents this will get you around the weight you need and you can split the load up and make your older childern sherpa the load.
