What is the difference between the Patagonia Nano Puff Vest and the Patagonia Down sweater Vest? I'm needing one or the other for a mid-layer to go skiing with my Patagonia Soft shell jacket? I would appreciate some feedback.

The Nano Puff Vest is insulated with a synthetic material called Primaloft. The Down Sweater is insulated with goose down. Both are very nice layering pieces for the purpose that you want to use them for. Down insulation typically has a longer life, provides more warmth for its weight and is more compressible. With down, though, you can't get it wet. On the other hand, Primaloft still retains most of its insulating properties even when damp. It is also usually a bit cheaper, still really compressible, and is hypoallergenic. Hope this helps.
