I have this harness and I love it, but I have a question: when I am setting up to climb, I run the rope through the little loop on the lower portion, but i noticed the top belt-part of the harness does not feature a loop to keep the rope from sliding from side to side... is this ok? am i setting up my gear right? it had the other guys at the wall stumped as well...

Yes, you're doing it right. The tech spec on the BD website shows how to tie in with this harness. You just need to pass the rope through waist belt and the little loop and the lower portion. http://www.blackdiamondequipment.com/uploads/black-diamond/files/MM5872_A%20Bod%20Harness.pdf
