Hey all, I'm brand new pup to all of this. I'm starting to plan an extended trip to begin in about 6months. I would like to be able to live out of a pack in wilderness and urban settings. I've traveled before but never like this. I'm looking for any and all tips on: gear, destinations, travel habits... you name I want to know. You should look into Osprey, Arc'Teryx and Gregory for top quality packs. Also, if you're new to this sort of thing, consider some smaller trips to see if you're really up for a 6 month trip.

http://cafe.comebackalive.com/ look into the Black Flag Cafe. Also, go to some local gear stores and talk to the people there. Every store has at least one employee with some real world experience. Ask them questions, lots of questions. Have fun and good luck.
