I've noticed that the majority of TNF backpacks are quite stiff (material). Does the material "break in" and relax a bit after a short period of time? I just don't want to struggle with the pack accessing my contents on the first week of using it. Thank you!

It will soften over time but it is not going to be anything drastic. I haven't found the materials to be an issue with TNF products.

It does "break in",but not in one week's time - more in a month's time
