I've noticed that TNF backpacks are quite stiff upon receipt. Does this pack "break in" in a short period of time. I just don't want to struggle with it when I take it on campus the first day of using it. Thanks!

The back of the bag is stiff for the laptop. Over time though, the rest of the bag will loosen up. I thought the same thing when mine first arrived.

I haven't used this exact model, but I have used other North Face packs, and yes I'd say they do lose a good deal of their initial stiffness relatively quickly. The back panel is designed to retain some stiffness but it certainly wont' be as stiff as it is as new for too long.
