i am thinking of getting this pack for my gf she 5'2 in height.. would this be okay for her to carry around in travel trips? or should i get a bigger bag?

It should be fine. Get her a size Small. This pack is fine for overnight backpack trips if you pack carefully and is plenty for non-camping travel. This is a good volume for a backpack.
