Planning on walking the Camino de Santiago in June 2012 and looking for the lightest/most durable pack possible. Advised not to take more that 8-9 kg for a 500 mi. trek. Any recommendations? I have the Osprey Ariel 65 but I think it's gonna be too big. What about the 44? Any advise welcome. Send me an email.

Thru-hiked the PCT in 2011 and met a pair of thru-hikers that loved the Talon 44. One swapped to the talon from a different ultra-light pack that came apart on him earlier in the trail. Both loved the Talon for their thru-hike (for as long as I hiked with them anyways). Know that you will need to be efficient in terms of space, but it will work if you're dedicated to a bit of minimalism. Hope this helps.

I'm a fan of the Talon 44, it's a pretty cool pack but if i were to go back I'd look into something else. On my latest venture I packed lightly for five days and even that was tight. I'd only buy the Talon 44 if you had a way of distributing supplies between your party. I'm thinking this particular pack may be too small for a trek of that caliber. Depending on what you are carrying and how often you re-up on supplies, I might consider something a bit larger. I wish you the best!
