By Ranked #571 - Men's Synthetic Insulation Jackets October 24, 2011

I'm debating between an Atom SV midlayer and Sabre SV shell combo, vs the Arcteryx Fission SV, for a new ski jacket ( lift served only). How would the 100 gm Coreloft compare with the 200 gm Primaloft in the Fission?
Thanks!

Jeff M, Thank you for your question. For skiing I would favor the Atom/Sabre combination opposed to the Fission SV. Reason being is that the Fission SV is not a ski jacket. It is really an alpine, belay style parka. I think you will have a lot more temperature flexiblity with the Atom/Sabre combo. You will also have a more feature specific package in terms of pockets, skirting, and et cetera in the Sabre. Unless you get really cold, or ski in a consistently frigide climate, 200 grams of Primaloft is overkill for an aerobic activity. I hope this is helpful for you.
