Yes, there are stretchy side pockets that you can put a smaller water bottle in. You won't be able to fit a 32oz nalgene or similar, but you can carry bottles.

Kathryn, I was just on the Osprey website and they have a picture that shows a water bottle tucked into the side pocket. I'm thinking that might be a stretch if you fill your pack up as much as I do with gear, but it should be fine otherwise.
