Trying to find the right freeride/big mountain binding for my new RAMP Peacepipe's. I have looked at Marker Jester & Griffon, Salomon STH 14 & 16, Rossi FKS 140, and some other bindings like the Look Pivot and Atomic FFG. I am not big by any standard (only 5'10" 155lbs) but I do plan on competing and consider myself advanced but not quite expert. I have never been binding shopping so anyone who could shed some light on what binding is the best choice for the best price. (Under $350)

The Jester is a great durability choice since it is primarily steel construction and hold up to harder skiing. Unlike the old Markers I have had no pre release issues with the Jester. I find they are easier to get in and out of than the Look/Rossi bindings. The Griffon is a lighter binding which is a better choice for lightweights, or in resort groomer skiers - a great binding for the right skier.

Well. If you want a durable binding I would suggest you look away from griffons. I've been riding Jester's with no problem for some time, and I'm very happy with them, lightweight and burly enough. Now the FKS 140 isn't the same the older bombproof FKS140/Pivot 14s, as it has the PX-style toe, and not the pivot-style (pivots are the same as fks). STH 16 would also be a great choice I guess. The STH 14 driver is solid too. Atomic FFG is the same as the STH.. So in short I would look most at Jester or STH16, or sth14 driver (same toepiece as 16, not sure if the make a non-driver toepiece sth14 anymore) And if you end up with STH, buy FFG if they're cheaper as they are the same.

Im looking for a binding too,im looking at the jester, griffon,Fks 140 and sth 14 im about the same Height and length, the lightest of all the bindings is the griffon and jester and the difference between the two is 1oz,the most durable would be the fks,it's made of steel nd will last a couple of seasons, the sth is the heaviest of them but it will hold up I think,I've never ridden it but it's good from what I have heard, soo if your looking for a light setup I'd go with the jester or griffons,if your looking for a durable binding go with the fks, and what ski do you ride?
