I'm thinking of getting this tent for winter backpacking & camping trips. I live in the Midwest so temps can range from 30 to -40 in the winter months.
The reason I'm liking this one over others in the 4 season category is the weight and it's simplicity. I also found it for close to half off retail at a shop near me.
Just wondering if this tent will perform well and correctly in the cold winter months of the Midwest. I understand it's built for expedition style mountaineering (which I hope to do some in years to come) but wanted to see if it was suitable for stuff less extreme as well.

Yes, it will work fine for less extreme weather. The two major points to consider are weight and lack of ventilation. They don't breath well, which helps to contain heat and keep out the weather, but also increases condensation inside the tent. Everything else is awesome and I'm jealous you found this tent so cheap.
