How does the Atom LT compare to the Epsilon AR? I'm going on a 45 day sea kayaking trip next summer in Alaska and am looking for a mid-weight layer. My trip leader this year (26 days on Lake Superior) had an Atom LT, but the Epsilon AR also caught my eye...

The Atom is warmer and more packable than the Epsilon, while the Epsilon offers a more durable face fabric and a touch more weather resistance. I would think the Atom would be the better piece for your trip and you'll probably end up wearing it very often.

Hey there, I dropped you an answer on your AR product question, which is below... One thing to note about the Atom LT is that it has this stretchy fleece material that runs from about the elbows to the waist under each arm, to help in breathing so again, it works great as a layering piece, but not really designed as a stand alone... Hey there, the Atom LT is more specifically a layering piece and will be warmer as a layering piece then the Epsilon AR... The AR will be better as a stand alone then the LT... They are two different jackets and have been designed accordingly... SO to sum it up, if you are looking for an insulating layer that you will use, lightly, as a stand alone then go with the LT... Vice Versa, go with the AR...
