I need a warm jacket to use for winter mountaineering in the western states, 12-14000 feet. I just purchased the mountain hardwear sub zero hooded jacket with 650 fill, but I'm considering this jacket instead. Can anyone recommend one over the other?

Hornito, Thanks for your question. The main difference between the Sub Zero from Mountain Hardwear and the DAS Parka from Patagonia is the build story. I like the Primaloft story in the DAS, as Primaloft is more thermally efficient than down should you get wet. At a 170 gram insulation story, the DAS is one of, if not the warmest jacket Patagonia produces. The fit may be a bit different DAS to Sub Zero, as the DAS is more of a belay type parka that is made to throw over the top of your outer layer. Both are great jackets and are outerwear cornerstones for these brands. I hope this is helpful for you.
