I have a general question about rear mount bike racks - can they be easily installed and removed? Or once installed they have to be on your car. I need a rack that I can quickly install if I plan on taking my bike on a trip. I don't often do it, but situations have come up.

Yes, they basically have a couple of clips that pop on and off with the additional of a couple of straps. I'd say about 1 or 2 minutes at most.
