Agreed, but it is waterproof and seem taped. It's also a membrane, not a coating, so its more durable. However, going with Gore and a more duarble outer fabric would be a better choice for serious rain protection.

For serious rain protection, I would recommend a different fabric like Goretex paclite, Goretex Pro shell, or eVent. This is more of a lightweight and value Pertex shell that will help in a rain storm but I would not classify as "serious rain protection."
