Write your question here...Will it hold a nikon d5100 dslr with a 70-300 lens. I want to use it as a disgeet camera bag. I don't want a real big pack.

You should have no problem fitting a DSLR like that one in here but you might consider getting a dedicated photography backpack as that will have padded compartments for the lenses and other accessories along with the camera body.

Yes it will. 1100cu in is definitely big enough for a big SLR and telephoto lense. Depending on how long, but is should be fine with 7-30. I use a BD pack about the same size and it carries my Canon T2i and telephoto with room for lots more.
