Can someone help me with where each hook should go correctly. I have guessed, but it doesn't look like I remember from my friends kayak seat.

Kathy, As long as the seat provides ample support when you lean back it should be fine. Sit On Tops have different systems and it's hard to say what would be "correct" for your boat. If you can comfortably paddle from it's current location I wouldn't worry about it. If this helped please Thumbs Up. Thanks.
