I'm about to head out to Philmont Scout Ranch in New Mexico for an 80 mile, 12 day trek as the adult leader. I've decided my pack is too heavy. Is this a good pack for 40lb-42lb load? I've heard the straps and belt are not too confortable. I'm looking for a light weight pack thas is comfortable over the long haul. Thoughts?

You will probably hate your life - or at least your experience if you use this pack for that much weight for that many days. While shaving a few pounds of your total load, this doesn't really have the padding/suspension to make that kind of load comfortable. I personally find Osprey to be most comfortable for me. Yours might be gregory as Ryan suggested, or it could be Arcteryx, or mystery ranch or granite gear, or....the list goes on. Bottom line - find a pack that has a decent suspension that fits you well and you'll be happier and feel better (whether a pound or two heavier).

I haven't used this pack but I can tell you that for a comfy pack look at Gregory packs. They might weight an extra pound or so more, but the way they carry a load makes everything feel much lighter.
