Hi,

I see that the Kestrel houses the hydration bladder in the AirScape back panel. It seems like it would be exposed to the elements. I'm heading to Kilimanjaro this fall and I'm afraid that the water might freeze. (Temps can be pretty cold up there! down to 15F?)

Anybody have experience with this pack in freezing conditions?

Everything about this pack seems to fit my needs, but I don't want to end up sucking on ice on the way up to the summit! Any pieces of advice or suggestions to other good packs with the same proportions/features would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks,
A.S.

Hi there! Actually, its behind the airscape backpanel which has a foam framesheet, and right in front of the back of the pack. Not exposed. It is one layer of fabric away from being inside the pack. Does that make sense?

Check out the thermal kit for either the platypus bladder system, or Camelbak also makes a winter kit for their unbottle system if I remember correctly.
