Can this tent be pitched with just the fly, or must we tote the whole shebang with us everywhere?

Here is the more detailed explanation: The fly attaches to the body of the tent through buckles (not grommets. The designated fly has no buckles, only grommets. So the only way to attach the fly to the base of the poles is using the main body. So, as others have pointed out: there is no fast pitch option; you'll have to carry the whole shebang.

It says there's no fast pitch, however, there are velcro tabs on the inside of the fly so you can attach it to the poles, which is what the fast pitch is on most tents. Just make a footprint yourself and viola, fastpitch.

There is no fast pitch option to set up only the fly. You would need to carry the whole "shebang".
