He's going to be on Long Trail ...but it still depends on what kind of sleeper you are. Without knowing that, I'd say it's going to be cutting it a little close. You can sleep with an extra layer on if you had to but that might throw off your weight savings if you're counting ounces. A 40 degree bag may give you a little bit more piece of mind. I can think of a few options that fit the bill that even weigh less

Like Eli said, it depends very much on where you are. Here in Alaska, 45 degrees, not going to do you a whole lot of good. In the Appalachians, probably it'd be ok. Desert, chapparal, low mountain hiking, it'd be great.
