What is the lightest abrasive you can use on the polypropylene? I would like to do to my Manitou what I do to my car each year and that is a 3 step wax/buff. The #1 removes oxidation, #2 is a sealer the third a uv protector-ant.My question is what is the best liquid abrasive to use for the first step to get rid of scrapes and blotches from sand etc.
tks john maccabe

Some questions just set you on a course. I guess this one of them. I'm seeing that lots of people are recommending a product called Plastic Renew. There's also some who are running various grades of light wet or dry sandpaper from 400-600 grit, as well as taking heat guns to the deeper scratches that they want to smooth the edges on. Another product that I see recommended, and that I use for my own glass shower doors, is Soft-Scrub for bathrooms. It's a really light abrasive that takes off the hard water stains and soap scum, but that I've never known to leave any scratching. Everyone seems to also recommend a good waxing when they're done, regardless of their method.

John- From your photo, even though it's not an abrasive, it looks like some plain old WD-40 would be a good place to start. Works great at taking discoloration and minor scratches out of plastic. The cheapest and gentlest abrasive I know of is going to be a polishing compound, or a chrome polish. Hope that helps.
