Are the Stoic jackets sized to fit over base and midlayers?

I'm right on the line between Small and medium; would a small jacket constrict movement when wearing layers? without wearing the jackets i can't be sure

I agree, most of the Stoic brand runs a bit small. If you are between sizes I would go with the larger size.

This jacket has a very athletic cut. I have a 40 or 41 inch chest and I got the large which fits exactly how I want it to, but I can't comfortably fit a heavyweight fleece under there. Also, the cut of the forearms and wrists is pretty narrow, which is not conducive to Midlayers. A 100 or 200 weight fleece tops. In general though, if you're in between sizes you should usually go UP when it comes to stoic gear.
