Its all about balance and confidence... we have much narrower boats, and we stand and have paddle wars on the boats. so we dance around on top until we either get knocked in or jump in. I think with some practice, you could get it done with out getting wet.

Nicholas, most of the kayaks are not stable enough to stand up and fish.
