With the blurred line between waterproof and waterproof/breathable now, I am having a hard time knowing what jacket I should get. I'm trying to compare this jacket with the Marmot Precip but cannot find a breathability rating for the Marmot. I am looking for a good all around jacket that won't fail when on a rainy backpacking trip, alpine ascent, or summer squall during a climbing trip. Any advice?

If you are anyway active in the outdoors, a breathable shell is a must. I own a PreCip & when I'm backpacking uphill in a downpour, I appreciate the PreCip even more. The Hurricane is a great price & it will keep you dry if you're not participating in any strenuous activities. Remember the inside of a garment can become as wet as the outside.
