What happened???? I have a pair of these (purchased fall of 2007) that ARE waterproof that I've worn to shreds. When I tried to replace them I was told that they don't make the waterproof version now. I'm very sad, WHY NOT,??!! they were the BEST!

There's also the Targhee II that is, essentially, the Voyageur with the waterproof membrane. They made these without the waterproof membrane for hikers that need their feet to breathe a bit more than the Gortex lining allows for. Personally, I find that when I backpack in April-June, I end up going through so much water that a waterproof membrane doesn't work anyway, which is why I prefer not having that layer at all so as to not weigh down the boot. (And Keen's breathability can't be beaten. After wading through 30r of water, if I walk for more than 10min on a dry path, my feet are almost completely dry.)

There are other companies that make similar boots such as the Vasque Breeze or Scarpa that are made of goretex that will be waterproof. Search "goretex boot" and the options come up.
