was wondering if the hood would either fit under or over a climbing helmet? and how much face protection does this give you when fully zipped up?

alslanno812250304, Thanks for your question. Regarding the Fugitive hood from Arcteryx, I own one of these, and it is a very versatile piece. The hood volume is pretty tight, I would not say that it would fit over a climbing helmet, but will fit under it quite nicely. When fully zipped up the hood has a snorkel like fit around the head and neck. I don't think it comes up overly high in the collar to give you a lot of face protection.
