The North Face Thunder Down Jacket - Women's
I tried this jacket on in the store and immediately loved it....

I tried this jacket on in the store and immediately loved it. I am always cold and need a soft, light, everyday jacket that will keep me warm. Unfortunately the store didn't have my size so I ordered one. When I received it, the jacket was ridiculously noisy - makes a loud crinkle noise every time you move it. I didn't remember hearing this when I tried the jacket on in the store, as I know it would have annoyed me. I actually went back to the store and tried the jacket on again - just to check - and sure enough, the jacket in the store was perfectly quiet. So my question is - did I get a defective jacket? I've seen two complaint posts regarding noise of the jacket, but all others seem positive and don't mention noise. Why would some of the jackets be noisy and some not? I'm wondering if I need to return the one I got and try for another one - or perhaps would washing it do the trick?

Kim, my wife tried this jacket on and I don't remember the fabric making any noise and seemed soft. Sometimes the material will make noise when it gets cold but will not in a controlled environment like a store. I would not suggest you wash a down jacket unless you have to.
