I'm sure knanier meant to say that MITTENS are generally warmer because of the skin to skin contact, not gloves. OR makes great products, I'm sure you'll love these mitts.

Gloves are generally warmer as the skin-to-skin contact between fingers allows for more heat retention. This is of course only the case when you're comparing gloves and mittens of equal quality, insulation, and material. Neither one is more waterproof than the other - it truly depends on how and what the glove or mitten is made of. You can clear snow off a car in mittens, no problem. It could be a little awkward the first few times, but you'll get the hang of it.
