Jules, The MH is going to be a good bit heavier, if that matters to you. The MH will resists tearing, rips and the like better but it will not be at all water resistant. the Marmot will do a better of job of shedding light water, though as you may know synthetic still maintains its warmth fairly well even when wet. as for warmth, there isnt much difference. It comes down to what it will be sued for, if it is going to take a beating i say MH but if it is going to be for use under a jacket and or just walking around, marmot may be the ticket
