I'd add that you can buy a flexible center bar if you want them. They come stock with the regular though. http://www.backcountry.com/black-diamond-standard-flex-center-bars

The center bar is 1/8" steel and is quite rigid. There is some minimal "play" at the ends where the bar connects at the front and rear, but that is normal and won't interfere with its intended use.
