I've heard mixed reviews about the current version of Chaco's (made in China) also It seems like neither Back Country nor REI is restocking any of them.
I'm I out of luck of ever getting a pair of Chaco's?
If I'm not out of luck what's the difference betweeen the different soles (Unaweep vs Unaweep pro)?

Hey Rick... Have no fear, all of the new 2011 Chaco Z2's will be available shortly, probably mid Feb on BC.com. It is normal that brands and retailers move out of their Sandal inventory for the winter months. It is correct that Chaco has been producing their sandals in China for the past 4 years. People like to play that in a negative way, but it has in fact helped make the product fit, feel, and perform more consistently.

Actually, Chacos have been made in China for a couple of years now. The pro sole is a softer, marking sole. This is good if you will be wearing them in and out of water (such as flyfishing or rafting) or need increased traction for scrambling over rocks. However, for everyday use the pro sole will wear down much quicker than their regular Vibram sole. If you really want the Z2's, they can be ordered from the Chaco website itself (although, like backcountry.com, it appears that they don't have all the sizes in each color in stock).
